The Undervalued 1% Better
Not in my studio and not in my life. Real, lasting change happens slowly. Sure it makes for great TV to see someone push themselves to the edge and make staggering strides toward weight loss and health goals but that type of activity is not sustainable and often leads to injury, disordered eating patterns, and a sense of defeat.
What would happen if we set a lower, slower, more sustainable goal? Maybe try being 1% better than we were the day before? It's not sexy and it doesn't make for great TV, but it does make reaching your goals realistic and you'll likely make more strides this way than trying to conquer all goals at once.
So here's the tip: Scale back your goals and work toward being 1% better than you were yesterday.
What does 1% look like?
Having fruit for dessert instead of pie, cake or cookies
Drinking 8 oz more water than you did yesterday.
Getting 30 minutes more sleep.
Taking 1,000 more steps than yesterday.
Cutting back your alcohol intake to 1/2 the amount from yesterday.
Remember, small steps done consistently bring BIG results.
